Why is Hopin free?

With the AI bubble blowing up in the past few months, many AI tools have come up for searching jobs. So what's so special about Hopin?

There's just one thing that is different - we, the co-founders, are students ourselves. And that makes all the difference in the world.

At the start of our third year of university, we both got rejected in the final rounds of top consulting firms. After that, we just started mass applying to companies everywhere. But after we filled out, perhaps, our 30th application, we realised something was very wrong. Applying to jobs was taking too much time. We were getting a few interviews, but we were still spending more time applying than actually preparing.

So we built a platform together that helped us apply to more jobs faster - one that tailored our resumes and found fresher listings before we'd even thought to look. Soon, we shared it with our friends, and within a few days, we released it to all of you. Slowly, Hopin became less ours and more yours.

Once more people started using it, we saw how much everyone was struggling. Some of us were having trouble writing cold emails. Some were spending hours just finding internships. Some had interviews lined up but had no idea how to prepare for them. So we started co-building Hopin with all of you. Every feature on Hopin today exists because one of you told us you needed it, and every feature we're building right now is something you've asked for.

And as we kept hearing these stories, we realised something bigger was going on. We had all come into college with so much - dreams of societies we'd join, hobbies we'd finally pursue, experiences we'd have to figure out who we actually are. Yet as second year and third year crept in, it all quietly slipped away. We stopped going to society meetings and started being active on LinkedIn. We stopped pursuing our hobbies and started keeping track of which companies hire freshers. Job search had swallowed college whole, and nobody had signed up for this.

That's why we want to keep Hopin free. Because this is your right. You should have a platform that makes getting jobs and internships easier - one that doesn't make you lose your mind in the process. So you don't have to kill your dreams just because your dream company doesn't seem to be hiring you. We're going to hackathons and YC events to get more AI credits so we can keep it that way.

We just ask one thing from you. Talk to us. If something isn't working, tell us. If you want a feature, tell us. If you're struggling with anything at all - even something you don't think Hopin can fix yet - tell us anyway.
