placement cohort

My placement cohort gives better ROI than several IIM colleges.

Hard to say. But the data makes it harder not to.

A student came to me a few months ago.
IIM grad. One of the newer ones.
Out of 300 students: 70-80 were unplaced.
She was one of them.

She'd taken an education loan of ₹20 lakhs.
Was working at a seed-stage startup in Jaipur.
10 PM days. 6-day weeks.
CTC? Less than half of what she borrowed.

She came to me with one ask:
"Charchit, I have an IIM degree. I just need a job at a branded company."

I asked what she paid for her MBA.
₹20 lakhs.

Then she said something I haven't stopped thinking about:

"If I paid 20 lakhs to a college that couldn't place me, let me pay a fraction of that here and see what happens."

So we got to work.
First month was slow: she couldn't get time off.
Then she resigned and we locked in completely.

Calls came from Bain. BCG. Blinkit. Magicpin.
The CTC expectations weren't matching yet.

Then Scaler called.
She said yes.
Single digit to double digit CTC.

And that's when it really hit me:
Students are taking education loans for colleges that leave them unplaced.
And nobody is saying it out loud.

So I will.

If you're planning an MBA: go Tier 1 or don't go at all.
IIM-A, B, C, L,I, FMS, ISB. That's the list.
Everything else is a gamble with borrowed money.

Because if campus placements don't work out?
There's no safety net. Just debt.

No IIM required. Results are.
